Safeguarding Children Workshop: Perplexing Presentation Fabricated and Induced Illness
This workshop will include looking at different terminology and definitions, alerting features of PP/FII, understand appropriate assessments and management, understanding RCPCH guidance, and there will be an opportunity for participants to reflect on cases and discuss the challenges in recognising and managing this form of maltreatment.

This workshop will include looking at different terminology and definitions, alerting features of PP/FII, understand appropriate assessments and management, understanding RCPCH guidance, and there will be an opportunity for participants to reflect on cases and discuss the challenges in recognising and managing this form of maltreatment.
The workshop will be delivered by Dr Alison Steele, Consultant General Paediatrician, specialising in safeguarding children. Dr Steele has held several Named & Designate Doctor for Safeguarding Children posts, including at GOSH. Dr Joanna Begent is a Consultant in Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine at GOSH and UCLH, specializing in safeguarding, and chair of the Complex Gastro MDT and Perplexing Presentation Support Service. Mary-Louise Sears is Deputy Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Adults, and has worked in the Complex Gastro MDT and more recently the Perplexing Presentation Support Service.
