Overview

This course is designed as professional development for multi-disciplinary healthcare and healthcare associated staff to support understanding of how the environment may present a clinical risk to patients and staff, and options for control and intervention within this area.

The module content provides the learners with specialist environmental Infection Prevention and Control knowledge and skills. The module is run over 5 days and will be delivered face to face.

This module aims to:

  1. Facilitate learning and enhance knowledge of environmental Infection Prevention and Control processes to improve clinical practice, patient safety and implementation of screening and validation results
  2. Develop an understanding of how data analytics are used to review and inform management choices linked to environmental monitoring data, screening selection process, risk identification and audit.
  3. Develop an understanding of available monitoring and validation techniques in order to select appropriate methods to answer clinical and patient safety queries, including the advantages and limitations of available techniques
